Aigul Nurbulatova

Director of Photography

Aigul Nurbulatova was born in Kazakhstan in 1993. She received her artistic education at the college of the Zhurgenov Academy of Arts in Almaty and also successfully completed her studies in Cinematography at Turan University. She is an alumni of the 2018 Asian Film Academy.

Starting from 2018, Aigul has been involved in the production of feature films and documentaries, which have participated in Kazakhstani and international film festivals, such as the Cannes International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, and Busan International Film Festival.

Her first full-length film, made in 2018, was "Not a Very Cool Winter" by Olga Korotko, which was presented at the International Cannes Film Festival in the ACID program. In collaboration with director Aizhan Kasymbek, Aigul worked on the films "Ot" and "Madina," both of which premiered in Busan and Tokyo.

In 2022, she worked on the film "In Flames" by Pakistani indie director Zarrar Khan. The film was presented in the La Quinzaine Des Cinéastes program at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival."
